Speech by our Race director at TEDxRiga: "Running Virus: from Shame to Fame"

This spring two weeks after Nordea Riga marathon at TEDxRiga our Race director Aigars Nords told his story how Nordea Riga marathon started in 2007 and how he convinced thousands of people in Latvia to start a new habit – running.
Although first Riga marathon took place in 1991 it was rather locally known event with just a few hundreds of runners. After Aigars Nords with the team took over organization of the event it has changed dramatically. Now Nordea Riga marathon had more than 18 000 runners from 59 countries, has certified by IAAF with Bronze label and is recognized as one of main spring-time event in the calendar of Riga.
